Graduate Residency Alumni: Aly Jackson

Artist Bio:

Aly decided on a life/career change at the age of 46 and went to university to study Fine Art. This journey enabled her to explore her life through the creativity of a camera lens and her work was initially autobiographical, pulling on themes of separation and real or imagined memories from her childhood in the North East of England.

After completing her Masters, she continued to pursue questions of assumptions and societal expectations through her photography. A number of artistic residencies have allowed her to explore further ideas of place and separation.

She is currently juggling a portfolio career which involves quality assessment, working with disengaged and disadvantaged young people, portraiture, wedding photography and pursuing a passion for the landscapes and people of Iceland.
