The Art House - Arts Council National Portfolio Organisation by The Arts Council, England


On 1 July, The Art House was awarded NPO Status by The Arts Council, meaning that they will join 695 other arts organisaitons across the UK to receive core funding for the period 2105 - 2018.

The three-year funding will be used to continue to fund the work of The Art House in providing time, space and support for artists to develop their practice and their relationships with audiences. 

In their funding report, The Arts Council said of The Art House: 

"ACE’s NPO award recognises the challenging, ambitious and highly developed strategic direction presented by The Art House, playing to the strengths of their history, skills and new facilities and offering an exceptional and expanded programme for artists requiring studio space, time and support to develop opportunities for critical artistic development, reflection and process across all strands activity.

The diversity of contemporary Britain is the core focus of the organisation. While The Art House’s mission continues to respond to the lack of facilities available to disabled artists, within this application the diversity remit of the organisation is extended also through new activity that will see the organisation throw national focus on challenging conventional approaches to diversity and the arts, taking a leadership role on ‘Inclusion in the Arts’. 

The Art House’s collaborative approach demonstrates best practice within this field with outstanding national reach and new ambitions for international activity through the next investment period, combining a unique artists’ resource with a policy focus placing equalities and creative research as a key strand and leadership function for the benefit of national and international partners."
