Artist talk / in conversation with Sara Brannan 7pm

Sara Brannan, the first artist selected for this year's SOME TIMES development residency, will open her exhibition at the Artwalk in May, accompanied by an Artist Talk / In Conversation at 7pm.

Sara is based in Sheffield and describes herself as a sculptor. Although recently Sara's practice has moved away from the making of objects towards drawing and digital media, all her work has sculptural elements. Recent drawings and animations looked at extending the contained flat surface into a three dimensional illusion. Other work includes a collection of photographs of objects found on the street as found sculptures. As Sara explains:

'A large part of my practice has been to question what sculpture is. I am also interested in how our bodies respond to artworks in the space in which they are positioned.'

In addition to Sara's exhibition there will also be a group exhibition of work produced by Wakefield Visually Impaired Group. Studio holders at The Art House will also open their doors so you can meet the artists, discover more about their work and perhaps purchase something that catches your eye.
