The subject of intellectual property has a huge impact on the world of creative works. This seminar, led by the Business and Patent Information Services, will inform you of your rights and how you can protect your creative practice. The session will look at copyright, designs, trade marks, patents and also some of the unregistered rights used in the "creative industries". In particular you will discover what these rights give you, things to be aware of and some examples of the difficulties people have faced in protecting their intellectual/creative property and how they were managed. Following the presentation their will be time to ask questions and the possible options for your practice. Find out how to protect what is rightfully yours.

FUNDING FOR ART

Get professional guidance and hands on experience on how to seek and apply for funding. Ideal for artists (for individual projects or those wanting to work in the community) and volunteer and community groups seeking funding for art based projects. This workshop is delivered by Sandra Jones who has 10 years experience in working as a community development officer supporting individuals and groups developing sucessful funding applications. Throughout the day you will gain information and engage in activity that will help to maximize your sucess.

HOW TO SELL YOUR ART/CRAFT
Saturday 20 November 10.45am to 4pm
In this seminar you will hear from artists experienced in selling their art, giving out examples, tips and some sad and funny tales of what to do and what not to do. These selected successful artists will cover selling opportunities such as trade and art fairs, market stalls, commissions, retail and wholesale, studio sales and exhibiting. A fantastic opportunity to learn from those that have been there and done that. Each artist will give a 45 minute presentation followed by a 15 minute question and answer time. This seminar will be one of the best financial investments for your future.

· 12 noon- session 2- art and craft fairs – Helaina Sharpley
Holmfirth Art Market to the contemporary craft fair, Bovey Tracey, Devon. Topics include; preparation, stand presentation, personal and professional communication with gallerists and the public, and more.
Award winning artist Helaina Sharpley has been showing her wirework nationally and internationally for four years, through both galleries and fairs. Her most recent claim to fame is David Hockney purchasing two of her pieces earlier this year.

· 2pm session 3- Commissions – Julia Peta Bickerstaff-Creative Glass Blower beng m.i.e.t.
Topics include getting commissions, the brief, details and deadlines, professional communication, contracts and more.
Julia is an established glass artist specializing in neon she has received commissions from people and places nationally and internationally from Ironbridge George Museum to international artist Adinda Van ‘t Klooster to Budwieser Beer
· 3pm session 4 - selling wholesale - Fiona Frances –Trade fairs and retailers.
Topics include costing and pricing, stand presentation, personal and professional communication with retailers and the public and more.
Fiona Frances is a ceramicist that creates contemporary works in clay and a commercial line that she successfully wholesales to many gallery gift shops and boutique gift shops nationally.

MONTHLY ARTISTS CRITQUES AND NETWORKING SESSIONS
Providing an opportunity for artists to discuss their work with other artists in a supportive environment. It is a discussion, a forum and a unique opportunity to receive constructive feedback.
Takes place the first Monday of the month 7pm to 9pm (6.45pm arrival time).
