PRESENT 2007

Showcasing the work of contemporary artists from across the region and beyond. Original artwork including painting, printmaking, photography, glass, ceramics, jewellery and textiles were all available to buy. Artists were on hand throughout the weekend to chat with visitors about their work.
Visitors to PRESENT said the work on show was....
" Stimulating! ", "Inspiring!", "A colourful Kaleidoscope of Creativity!"

This year we also held a preview event on Friday evening.

So far the feedback we've had from artists has been positive with most artists acheiving sales. Some interesting conversations happend over the course of the weekend and we hope that some of these will bear creative fruit. One artist said that although she hasn't painted in oils in over 20 years she was so inspired by the event that she has taken up her brushes again.

The networking potential of an event such as this was also highlighted.
One of the artists said...
"....the best way I think for artists to meet and network is within this sort of context, artists work is so linked to the person its almost impossible to communicate without reference to it. Its a little like some people say... before I got the dog I hardly knew anyone...with artists it's before such and such event, exhibition/meeting etc..."
We hope to run a similar event in 2008 so watch this space for details.
There was also a free prize draw with prizes including original works of art and vouchers for Junction 32 retail outlet. We had over 200 entries to the prize draw and the nine prize winners have now been informed by letter. Prizes are being delivered over the next few days.
Prize Draw winners: P. Cridland from Holmfirth, Rod Scholes from Durkar, Sharon Devlin from Pontefract, John Lawrence from Leeds, Susan McCartney from Castleford, D. Brewster from East Hardwick, Clare Lake from Ackworth, Katie-Marie Armstrong from Castleford and Mary Mathews from Barnsley.
