Kerry Harker, Artistic Director, The Tetley www.thetetley.org
Kerry Harker is Artistic Director at The Tetley, Leeds. Harker studied at the University of Leeds from 1990-1995 (BA Hons Fine Art and MA Feminism in the Visual Arts). As an artist she has exhibited across the UK. Kerry co-founded Vitrine, which was active from 2004-6, with Pippa Hale before they co-founded Project Space Leeds [PSL] with Diane Howse in 2006. PSL now operates The Tetley, which opened as a centre for contemporary art and learning in late 2013, in the art deco former Tetley brewery headquarters building on the new South Bank Leeds. The Tetley supports emerging artistic and curatorial work, with a focus on participatory practices. Harker’s research interests include the relationship between heritage contexts and contemporary art, and the role of cultural spaces in post-industrial regeneration and the creation of new public realm. She was a nominator for the Northern Art Prize in 2011.
