Paula Tod
Artist statement
Working principally with paint, starting points for work lie in areas such as landscape and the environment, literature and legend, philosophy and history. I am interested in the process of painting and the interplay between depth and surface, using a variety of techniques including oil glazes and egg and oil emulsions.
As an extension of my own practice, I have an interest in bringing contemporary arts practice into educational and community settings. I am particularly interested in devising ways of working creatively with people who feel disenfranchised in some way from arts practice or mainstream education.
Collaboration with artists in different fields from my own has led to experimentation and development of other art forms, successfully combining multi-media with community involvement.
