Lisa V Robinson

Artist statement

Lisa V Robinson is an emerging contemporary painter currently based in Westgate Studios, Wakefield. She studied BA Fine Art at Manchester Metropolitan University, graduating with first class honours in 2008. Since graduating from university, Lisa has proceeded to win the Joan Day Painting Bursary and more recently has been shortlisted for the New Lights Art Prize.

Lisa's expressive work celebrates painting itself as an essentially physical and sensual process. Various sources, such as shop front windows, are used to create an inner vocabulary of visual language, comprising of; forms, lines and gestures, that can then be recalled automatically during the painting process.
